“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

“The old life is gone, new life has begun, we have overcome. Jesus you make all things new.” Lyrics of a favourite song of mine that totally sums it up. The old makes way for the new. It’s simple- when you accept Jesus Christ, He gives you a new life. Have you ever seen death make way for life? Look at flowers. A flower must die and the seeds dispersed for new life to begin somewhere else. So it is with us. Our old selves must die and make way for newness of life.

No matter your history, it does not dictate who you can be in Jesus. Your past does not matter to God, when you come to Him, He gives you a complete makeover. Don’t let the enemy taunt with negative past experiences or influences. If he does, tell him about his future! Destruction. God has an abundant life for you to live now, right here on earth. That’s why He came (John 10:10). Whether you need healing or forgiveness, or both, God can give you that and much more!

Does the verse say that some things are made new? No. All things are made new. Every single thing. Your mind, your attitude, your countenance - everything! He may even give new material things. He may call you to move job, move city, change some of the friends you have in your circle. One thing to remember, some things take time but be patient with God. He will change you gradually and You’ll love the way He transforms you. You may not recognise yourself! In 2 Corinthians 3:18 the Bible says that by beholding we become changed. Herein lies the secret, behold Jesus and you cannot help but change. His love, forgiveness, patience, kindness, goodness; they all rub off on you.

Guess what? Those around you will be affected too. They’ll notice a change in you, something different that they cannot explain. You'll then have an opportunity to share the transforming love of God with them - even better.

Want a new life? Hide in Christ, abide in Him. He will make you new.

Here’s what He says to you today:

“I have a new life waiting for you. You wouldn’t believe all the wonderful things I have in store for you. Far beyond your wildest dreams, I assure you. Leave your old life behind, it may feel great now but what I have in store for you is a new abundant life.”

Pray this prayer today:

Jesus, I want to be new. I’m tired of living a mediocre life. Tired of the same old routine. I’ve seen what You can do for others and I want You to do that for me. Make me new. Restore me. Help me live a new life in You.
