“And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19 (AMP)
Liberally. Fill until full. Every need. Riches. Does it sound like you’ll be lacking in any way? No way. The hidden gem in this verse is that it’s not just about our physical needs, it applies to our emotional, relational and indeed our spiritual needs too.
Today we look at the characteristic of God in that He is a provider. Many that live in a first world country will never know how it feels to need the provision of basics. Basics like food, water, sanitary conditions, a home etc. If there's something wrong with my water supply, I just call my supplier and they come out and have a look the same day. I hardly have to worry. The same goes for many other things in my life and no doubt, yours too. However - lets throw a spanner in the works.
I’m keeping this first world because we are the ones that often think we can rely on ourselves for everything.
What happens when our salary is late because we’ve just started a new job halfway through the month and our mortgage is due?
What happens when you have an unexpected expense and you no longer have enough to cover all your bills? You worry right? Naturally.
You do not need to worry. Your father is rich. He will liberally supply and fill until full every need. Did He say “some” of your needs? No. He said every need. I’ve often heard a particular true story of a mother who had young children and no longer had food in the cupboards. The children were hungry, and as children do, they complained to their mother. The mother, being a believer in God, did what she knew best. She gathered her children under her arms and told them they were going to pray and ask God for dinner. “That won’t kill our hunger”, the children thought but the mother continued to pray. Here’s what you need to know, the mother did not have a back-up plan, some secret cupboard with food for a “rainy day” - she too was unsure of how she would feed these children of hers. However, she prayed a prayer of faith and in the middle of her prayer, the doorbell rang. The children quickly rushed to the door and saw bags and bags of groceries left without a note or anybody that brought them. The mother knew immediately that this was God supplying her every need even before she asked.
Your experiences may be different, but God is the same. Trust God to provide a new job, new opportunities for growth, financial blessings, emotional security, self confidence, good friends, a good life partner, healing for your body and soul. Whatever you need, just ask Him. His riches will be more than enough for you.
Liberally. Fill until full. Every need. Riches. Still doubting God’s ability to provide for you?
Here’s what He says to you today:
I know exactly what you need. Everything you ask for comes as no surprise to Me. Learn this. Whatever you need, whenever you need it; I’ll supply it freely. I never run out of riches. I’ll fill you up until you’re full, lacking nothing. Don’t be shy or bashful - just come straight to me”
Pray this prayer today:
God, help me to pray the prayer of faith when I don’t know how you’ll provide. Help me to trust you when I can’t see a way and know that You will provide my every need.”
