No long post today.
I’m in the process of building something new which is a challenge for me. I’m a shy person, very shy - so expanding “Pen of a God Chaser” is going to be interesting as I’ve always thought I’m too shy to host anything and I still am - I’m excited though, I cannot wait to see what God will do with this. POGC is continually a work in progress.
When reflecting on the New Year and the many feelings it can incite, one interesting thought came to mind - it is a New Year, 2021, the year of our Lord BUT it is the same God. What does this mean? It simply means that God is unchangeable, immovable & indeed unshakable. The consistent nature of God’s character means He is trustworthy, you can rest easy knowing that He is still working for you and ON you. We are unfinished, we are ‘to be continued’.
The amount of times I have dipped in and out of POGC may be discouraging to some but is actually encouraging to me - this ministry has morphed and changed each time I jump back in. Developed in a more beautiful way each time and as a result of my “recesses”, each continued season is filled with new growth experiences and stories to tell.
Back to the New Year. I know how tempting it is to bask in the false sense of security the feeling of ‘newness’ brings. We all have (whether we admit it or not) fallen foul of making and breaking New Years resolutions. They work for some, and that is ok but many times, you may be left disappointed with yourself and your lack of willpower to see something through to completion. I would like to suggest to you that this feeling of self disappointment - chastising yourself when you don’t stick to resolutions - is actually a trick of the enemy. Am I suggesting the underlying desire to change and using the New Year as a catalyst for that is wrong? No. What I am suggesting is that you should change your viewpoint and commit to continuing the journey. Notice the word “continue”.
Continue. Keep going. Persist. Persevere. Maintain. Carry forward. Pursue. Extend. Progress.
Growth is God’s theme. He is the original growth & self-development expert. Strive to grow with Him. God is slowly working on us, chipping away at the parts that are no good and accentuating the curves of our character that reflect us and Him, best. So yes, the New Year may see a similar you - but remember, it is a journey and God is creating His masterpiece - YOU.
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Phil 1:6
Did I say this wasn’t a long post?
